Giuseppe is the kind of person who throws himself completely into whatever catches his attention. One day he is singing arias, the next he is collecting insects, mastering embroidery, or trying his hand at private investigation. Each new obsession takes over his world, until something else inevitably pulls him in a different direction.
Then he meets Pechka, a quiet balloon seller from a distant land who carries a lingering sadness. For the first time, Giuseppe does not want to move on. Using every unusual skill he has picked up along the way, along with bursts of music and a series of heartfelt, if slightly clumsy, surprises, he sets out to brighten her world.
In trying to help Pechka smile again, Giuseppe may finally discover something he has never found before: a reason to stay.
